Dhruv Rathee's AI Fiesta
Dhruv Rathee has launched his new startup, and this post is not about its merits or demerits.
It is about the people who are mocking him and his startup, calling it a college project and what not. I keep wondering, who are these people who have so much time and energy to waste on spreading hate about someone? It reflects the mentality of our society - the crab mentality. We seem to be more interested in pulling someone down rather than lifting ourselves up.
By the way, I’m no one to preach, because I’m no saint. Here’s one anecdote that I remember:
Long ago, one of my friends started a company. The concept was really simple, and although I didn’t tell him this, I was very skeptical that it would work. I was also jealous that he had the guts to start up. Nevertheless, perseverance is an amazing quality and he had it, in abundance. He’s a smart person. He kept at it and, after a few pivots, brought the startup to a point where I now find myself feeling a bit jealous of his company. I was jealous then, and I’m jealous now and while I was busy mocking him in my head, he actually achieved something.
Most people miss the fact that one of the hardest things to do is to take that leap of faith. Once you’ve taken that leap, the rest of the journey, while still difficult, becomes easier in a way. You gain confidence and a “can-do” attitude to solve any problem.
It’s possible that the startup may fail in the future, and there will always be people who mock and call names. But perseverance is an amazing quality.
